Everyone who works at Black Dog is a runner. We train. We race. We have ups and down, setbacks and personal records, favorite shoes and equipment failures. We may not have seen it all, but we’ve seen a lot and learned a ton. We are here to listen and help you on your journey.

We receive continual product training and of course, we test the products ourselves!

Because we are small, we can offer attention to your needs that is unmatched. Our goal is not to sell a certain shoe, but to equip you with the best fit for for you.

Fit Analysis 

We know that having the right equipment (in this case: shoes) can mean the difference of enjoying your training/racing and being sidelined due to running related injuries. The shoe fitting process is the first step to keeping you on the road and closer to reaching your goals.

The BDRC fit process is informative, thorough, and fun. There is never a need to make an appointment and it is free of charge.

Background Information:

We begin with some basic questions about the type of running/walking you do, your training goals, the predominant surfaces you run/walk on, your average mileage and your history of injuries that may affect your running. This information guides the fit process and helps us recommend the shoes that are best suited for your needs.

If you are currently a runner/ walker, bring in your shoes so we can analyze wear patterns, which indicate how you land in your current shoe.

Walk/Jog Analysis:

Because treadmills are a much softer surface than roads and can increase your degree of pronation, we analyze how you walk and/or jog in the shoes on a hard surface, right inside our store.

Aetrex iStep Analysis:

A brief moment standing on our Aetrex machine will use infrared scanning technology to tell us more about the shape of your feet, the rise of your arches, and the location of your feet’s pressure points.

BDRC thrives in building community and building up our community. Our weekly fun runs and training teams offer every runner and walker a change to be part of a group. Our special events and fundraisers allow us to work together to build up the Myrtle Beach area as well as special causes around the world. We also proudly offer daily discounts to our active and retired military, first responders, and student athletes.
